Open’er earns its place here because the Tri-City gives a large mainstream festival a much better surrounding trip than an isolated field normally would.

The festival site sits at Gdynia-Kosakowo airfield. That is not central Gdynia and certainly not central Gdańsk. The payoff is that the surrounding coast offers three genuinely different bases rather than one generic festival town.

Where to base yourself

Gdynia is the operational choice. Sopot is the resort-and-nightlife choice. Gdańsk is the strongest choice for history and a longer city break. None is universally best; the last train, shuttle and final kilometre should decide more than the prettiest hotel listing.

Arrive early. Leave late.

Come at least two days early if you have not seen Gdańsk. Leave one daylight day for Gdynia and the coast after the final night, when the festival crowd is tired and Sopot begins to feel like a resort again.
